Course Overview

“Get Set, Sew” is an introduction to sewing by hand and sewing machine for 8-11 year olds. This term we will be making one project over four weeks. Students can choose to make a practical mask, a drawstring case for glasses, sewing kit, or Smartphone. More experienced young students can design and make a summer top. It is useful to have your own sewing kit or sewing machine, but all equipment is supplied.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

Students will need to purchase their own fabric and trimmings, (estimated cost £5-£10 depending on fabric choice). A snack and water bottle are also useful for break time.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.

- To allow us to provide equal opportunities for all eligible learners, please refrain from enrolling on more that three Learning For Work courses at this time. -
