Course Overview

1. Introduction to key techniques in lino-cut printmaking.
2. Development of 2 or 3-colour lino-cut block prints.
3. Registration for combination relief printing techniques.
4. Creating a block printed textile design with lino-cut designs.
5. Creating an artist’s book, or an introduction to book binding.
6. Pattern placement and repeat pattern design.
7. 3D paper engineering featuring relief printed designs.
8. Design and print a book boards.
9. Create a complementary book sleeve.
10. Design and print a series of cards, or stationery.
11. Design and carve a maker’s stamp.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

All equipment and sample materials supplied, but students may be required to bring into class, or purchase larger amounts of materials for their specific projects. Useful items to bring with you are: an apron, a pencil case with drawing equipment and craft knife, also a lightweight (such as card) carrying folder for the artwork in a polythene bag.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.

- To allow us to provide equal opportunities for all eligible learners, please refrain from enrolling on more that three Learning For Work courses at this time. -
