Course Overview

This is a 30 week course, which consists of three 10 week terms.

• Provide a basic course in Drawing and Painting, suitable for beginners and improvers.

• All aspects of basic drawing and painting skills covered.

• No prior knowledge is required.

• Broaden and stimulate learners' own observational and representation skills over a broad range of subjects, encouraging and enhancing learners' own expressive techniques.

• There are no specific requirements for joining, just come with an open mind for learning more about art materials and how to get the most our of them, with a view to developing one's preferred choice of drawing and painting media and to develping or fine-tunings one's own personal style.

Additional Costs

• A small charge is asked for tea, coffee and for colour photocopied material is students wish to purchase images at the end of class.

• Learners will have a chance to build up their course materials term by term.

• The emphasis is on finding a preferred drawing and painting medium, and much advice will be given in class on how to get value for money in building up a good essential working stock of materials.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

• Learners to bring along their preferred choice of drawing and painting media.

• If learner is new to the course, bring some B range pencils (they can be bought as a set of B-9B), a putty rubber, an A4/A3 cartridge paper sketch pad and a basic starter kit of water based paints (watercolours, acrylics or gouache).

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
